Dr. Jason Ulm
Dr. Jason Ulm – a double-board certified surgeon (American Board of Surgery and the American Board of Plastic Surgery) – is pleased to bring his private practice to the community he and his family have called home for over 8 years and where he has trained residents in the field of plastic surgery for the past five. ULM Plastic Surgery is the culmination and embodiment of Jason’s uniquely specialized training, knowledge, and passion and affords him the ultimate opportunity to cultivate meaningful relationships with patients, built around the highest level of personalized care.
After completing General Surgery residency, Dr. Ulm was recruited for a Plastic and Reconstructive surgery fellowship at the Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston and then went on to receive highly sought-after fellowship training in Aesthetic and Craniofacial Surgery from Harvard/Mass General, working with world-renowned Dr. Michael Yaremchuk. During this fellowship, Dr. Ulm learned advanced techniques in facial cosmetic and reconstructive surgery, as well as craniofacial surgery, and was also an Instructor in Surgery at Harvard Medical School. Dr. Ulm has been an Assistant Professor of Surgery at the Medical University of South Carolina since 2013, and an active member of the Cleft and Craniofacial Clinic, Advanced Breast Reconstruction Program, as well as a consultant in Plastic Surgery at all other local hospitals in the Charleston area.
I met Dr. Ulm only a few days after I found out that I required a double-mastectomy, and I’m so grateful for his care throughout the whole process – which included the surgical decisions, insurance billing, and follow-up. The entire staff went above and beyond. He is a perfectionist and a professional, and I am so pleased with my results. I would insist on his care for my closest friends and family.
While Dr. Ulm has built a reputation specializing in the full suite of reconstructive and cosmetic services now available under his practice, he is most notably trained in two of the most complex procedures in his field – DIEP Breast Reconstruction and Craniofacial Reconstruction. Proficiency in both illustrates the depth of his dedication and passion. Dr. Ulm is proud to have taken medical mission trips to Central and South America, working with Operation Smile and Global Smile Foundation. He remains active in research to stay on the forefront of advancements and the evolution of procedures, and continues to publish findings and deliver presentations. He has received numerous awards and honors, among them several in which he was nominated for teaching. This recognition speaks volumes about his ability to mentor, collaborate, and instill confidence in others – qualities he brings to interactions with all of his patients.
