Forehead Lift

A forehead lift, also called a brow lift, is a surgical procedure that reduces the appearance of aging signs on your forehead by correcting the sagging of the forehead skin and eyebrows. It reduces deep furrows, lifts drooping eyebrows that have lost definition, and restores a more youthful appearance. Dr. Jason Ulm is a board-certified plastic surgeon who offers forehead lift procedures in Charleston, South Carolina.

This facial procedure involves the removal of excess skin and repositioning of skin and underlying muscles. This has the effect of smoothing out and tightening the area, eliminating wrinkles.

Why Do People Get Forehead Lifts?

Forehead wrinkles and drooping eyebrows are parts of the aging process that almost everyone faces. In many, these issues appear prematurely.

They can be the result of genetics, the steady downward pull of gravity, harmful UV rays and other environmental factors, abrasive cosmetics, improper skin care regimens, and poor nutrition.

Of all the wrinkles, the severe lines that appear on the forehead are the most prominent and can make you look several years older and constantly fatigued. A forehead lift can address these wrinkles and more.

Your Brow Lift Consultation

Your treatment starts with a consultation with Dr. Ulm, who will determine whether you are a suitable candidate for a brow lift. This includes a discussion of your medical history and aesthetic goals. A physical examination will also be performed.

During this process, you can ask any questions you may have, and you can also look at forehead lift before-and-after photos. Finally, a treatment plan will be created and your surgery date will be chosen.

The Open Forehead Lift

The open forehead lift, also called the coronal, classic, or traditional brow lift is a surgical procedure that lifts drooping eyelids, elevates and smooths out the forehead, and shifts a receding hairline forward.

On the day of the procedure, the treatment area is cleaned with an antiseptic and the incision site is marked. Anesthesia is administered to ensure patient comfort throughout.

An incision is created across the top of the head from one ear to the other. The incision is made within the hair-bearing skin. The forehead skin is then lifted, skin and muscle adjustments are made, and excess skin is removed.

The incision is stitched closed and properly dressed. A thin tube may be placed to drain out excess fluid or blood that is collected under the skin.

Brow Lift Recovery

During your forehead lift recovery process, make sure to follow Dr. Ulm’s post-surgical care instructions closely. This will ensure that the risk of complications is minimized and helps to preserve the quality of the results.

Bruising and swelling are common temporary side-effects with this procedure. They will disappear in time, and cold compresses can be used to reduce them more quickly.

It will be necessary to keep your head elevated at all times. Pillows can be used to help with this while you are asleep.

Once all bruising and swelling has disappeared, you will be able to see the full results of the forehead lift procedure.

Forehead Lift Cost

To understand the cost of a forehead lift surgery, it is necessary to look at a number of factors. The type of anesthesia utilized will affect brow lift cost, as will the length of the surgical session and the amount of tissue removed. As part of your consultation, you will be able to ask more questions regarding pricing.
